Devon is usually a very easy-going kid. He’s pretty sweet most of the time. Until he skips a nap. Yesterday I kept him up so we could put him to bed early since he has a cold, I didn’t want him to get the other kids sick that were coming over that night. Anyways, after his designated nap time, here is how most of the day went.
Devon is playing in the water. He knows he isn’t supposed to. I’m occupied and can hear the water running.
Me: Devon, turn off the water and hop down please.
Devon: What?
Me: I said to hop down–stop playing in the water.
Devon: Huh mom? What? I can’t hear you.
Me: You can hear me. No more playing in the water. I’m coming to help you.
Devon: What mom? Talk louder? I can’t hear you.
Devon is playing with his food. I am two feet away from him.
Me: Devon, eat your food please so you don’t spill your bowl. Get the spoon out of the crack on the table.
Devon: What? What mom?
Me: Eat!
Devon: I mommy now, you Devon.
Me: I’m Devon? Okay. What?? What? I can’t hear you mommy?
Devon: You heard me.
Ugh, it’s nearly one of the most annoying things he’s done in his life. Good thing he’s so cute. He’ll look at me and say, “Friends again mom?” and give the thumbs up sign. So I get over it quickly.
What? I couldn’t read your post. What did you write? Ha! What a funny, funny kid. How fun to keep a record of things like that, so that when he’s old and has kids of his own who are conveniently deaf, you can remind him of his past.
We are so sad. We were planning to leave this afternoon for Utah, but both I-80 and I-70 are closed. My parents have been stuck in Rawlins and are coming home now because they won’t let them through and a huge storm is coming. Anyway, congrats to your sweet mom and we love you guys.
Oh, and I love your quotes section on the side . . . it makes me laugh out loud. Funny, funny boys!
So young and yet he’s already learning how to manipulate Mom! Just when you want to kill them they do something cute–it’s a survival instinct I guess. :)
It’s amazing what kind of annoying things they can come up with on lack of sleep. Aidan just whines, cries and says, “Hold you. Hold you.” He reverts to this baby talk that I don’t like. Did Devon at least sleep well last night?
He’s just practicing for when he becomes a husband. Just kidding. He’s a cutie. How could anyone resist “Friends again?” That’s so cute!
Oh the dreaded no nap days, we had one of those yesterday as well, but yours sounds much more comical than ours. He’s a sweetie!
What a funny, smart, manipulative little boy. :)
