first zoo trip of the year

March 24, 2009 By Christie

Bailey, not enjoying the train ride.
My friend Kim and I took our kids (well, we both have 3, but two of hers were in school) to the zoo. It was 70 degrees that day, and so perfect for a trip to the zoo! We knew it was going to get cold again, and wanted to take advantage of the great weather. So glad we did. We had a blast! Thanks Kim!
And now, let’s all pause here for a horrifying mommy moment.
“Once there were two moms who took their kids to the zoo. All was going well. The kids were having a blast, but soon were getting hungry (or moreso, the baby was getting hungry) so they all stopped to eat lunch.
It was a busy day at the zoo, as the weather was beautiful and warm, 70 degrees to be exact. The cafe table and chairs area was the perfect place to stop and eat their lunch. People were walking by all around…four or five tables had people eating. Amongst this happy little scene was a cute little garden area, with bushes and such in it. It was on the other side of the fenced-in cafe seating. Right by a main walkway of the zoo.

One of the children, named Carson (names, unfortunately, have not been changed to protect privacy) was done with his lunch and started to roam around the tables a little bit. His mom realized that he wasn’t sitting down by her, and she glanced around for him, only to see his bare bottom…his pants and underwear around his ankles, taking a leak through the fence onto the happy little garden bush, as if it was totally a normal thing to do.

His mom gasped, covered her mouth, and looked at her friend who then noticed as well. Lucky for his mom, this good friend just looked away and said, “Don’t say anything. Just don’t look at him.” After what seemed at least 2 minutes later (think about it…two minutes is a LONG time if you are the mom in this situation!), he finally finished pulling up his pants and came over, as if nothing happened.

His mom talked to him AGAIN about how we use TOILETS unless we are camping, and even then…you ask mom and dad where you can pee.

THE END. ”
And seriously, we had just had that talk two days before going to the zoo. But, I’ll admit, it does make me smile at least, if not full out laugh, every time I remember it.

All in all though, it was a fun day, despite the public offense.

Yay! I’m not the only who deals with that. And with summer backyard play time, its only going to be harder. Hooray for fun at the zoo, I would have loved to tag along, but we had some fam in town. Another time–and soon, before it gets too hot, okay?

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
