Sweet Grandparents

January 22, 2016 By Christie

I have the privilege of taking care of my Grandparents two times a week, and it has been a blessing not only financially (they were going to hire night nurses but they hired me and my cousin twice a week each) but so good for other reasons as well. Most of all to witness the great love they have and express for one another. Since they are hard of hearing, I can’t help but overhear their prayers each night and the kind words they say to one another. It is just a wonderful thing for me to hear. And take note on what I need to improve on both in my prayers and how I speak to Dillon.

A couple months ago, my sweet Grandma was in the hospital twice in a couple weeks time. The second time, I went to see her and she was pretty out of it. But my mom and Aunt Bonnie were there and woke her up so she could see I was there. She wrote on some paper that she was glad I came. When I left to go to a Temple session with Dillon, I really did feel like it was the last time I would see her and the last time I got to say I loved her and goodbye. I was sad about it. I was rushing to the Temple and thinking about my Grandma and how much I love her and my Grandpa. Then I thought about going to the Temple and I had an overwhelming feeling of gratitude towards my Grandparents and my own mother. The reason I am so happy and so blessed in my life is largely due to my Grandparents. They raised a family in righteousness. They showed how to live amazingly righteous, good lives. Then their children raised their children in righteousness and I’m hoping to come close to the same amazing parents my mom and Grandparents are. I thought on my way to the Temple, that the reason I was going was because of them! And it was a beautiful feeling, so wonderful to see how very much our own lives matter to our posterity. I love it. And I hope that Dillon and I can live and parent so that we can see our family grow in the church as well.

My Grandma is much more frail than she used to be, yet she still got on the floor to play with Ruby. I just love it. I’m so blessed to have such amazing Grandparents! I’m so blessed that my mom persevered despite her circumstances and continued to be a strong and amazing leader of our family, keeping us active in the church and really helping us kids gain testimonies. I’m blessed to have my Dad close by now, and he blesses us as well. He is a good man.

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
