Happy 6 Year Anniversary to us!

November 19, 2007 By Christie

What a great anniversary, I’d have to say the best yet. I am still completely in love with my sweet handsome hubby of mine. We had a blast. We went to see Sammy Kershaw and the Kentucky Headhunters in Wendover. We stayed at the Best Western Inn. The concert was a lot of fun. Sammy Kershaw has some good tunes, like ones you’ve probably heard but never knew who he really was, for example, he sings “Third Rate Romance”, “Queen of my Double Wide Trailer”, “Love of My Life”, “Baby’s Got Her Blue Jeans On”, and my favorite of his is, “She Don’t Know She’s Beautiful”. We were onto Sammy Kershaw though. He couldn’t hit the high notes so well towards the end, and so he acted like he was totally into the song all waving his head around dramatic and stuff, so you couldn’t hear his voice on the high notes conveniently cause that’s when his head rolled off to the side, cause he was so “into” the song:). The other funny thing about him was he had these really nice guitars, and he picked them up to play. I said to Dillon, “Look! He’s not even playing! Look at his left hand!” and he totally wasn’t, it was just for show. Come on Sammy, learn a few chords, you only gotta know like 5 to play these songs. He did play a D and G, but would stop on a certain chord. I told Dillon it must have been an F. He laughed, and if you play guitar at all or ever attempted to learn, you’d know why that is funny:). The Kentucky Headhunters were funny, and I hate to say it, but they had prettier hair than me, which is always tragic on old fat men, but you know, if they think they are sexy…whatever. It was a good time though. They sing a couple good ones, like “Oh, Lonesome Me”, “Dumas Walker” and “Walk Softly on this Heart of Mine”. They also did a couple covers–a Beatles song (which is always good in my opinion) and “Spirit in the Sky”.

I don’t know if you have ever driven out by the Salt Flats, but really there isn’t much as far as scenic overlooking goes. The part that was fun was reading people’s messages they wrote with rocks on the sand. So I told Dillon we better leave our mark as well, so we made a big 6 for 6 years (and got a couple of honks as people drove by, like from the semi-trucks), by mile marker 36. Dillon said I better put that on our blog so we’d remember if we go back and can change the 6 to other numbers on our anniversary. The pictures make it look like we’re kickin’ it on some cool beach (only, if we were on the beach my legs wouldn’t be so white!).

We then drove to the temple we were sealed in–the Bountiful Temple. It was cute watching the new bride and grooms there. The session was nice and of course very special and neat to be there again since we don’t make it to the temple together very often anymore. That night we read my journal entries about our wedding day and the few months following, which was also very special. I love my husband! He is the best!

10 Things I love about Dillon:
-He loves me so much, I just can’t believe it. I am so lucky.
-He is such a hard worker and does it completely willingly to provide well for our family.
-He is the best dad around. He is so patient with the boys (and me).
-He is rarely critical of me, and when he is, he does it in such a way that really makes me want to be a better person.
-He is one of the least non-judgmental people I know.
-He has a very strong testimony and is very patient in my learning process:).
-He hardly ever complains.
-He might think contrary, but I love his sense of humor.
-I am happy around him. No matter how ornery I can get, he can ALWAYS make me smile.
-He puts me above anything else, besides the Lord. He loves spending time with me and I love spending time with him. He always says he’s just happy doing anything when we are together.

We were dancing in the kitchen when we got home, and it was funny because he grabbed one of the red roses and put it in his teeth cause we were pretending to do the tango, and as soon as we even moved, the rose broke off. We could’ve sworn the roses were glued onto the stems! Cause this was the 3rd one that broke off–two of them broke off by the time he got home! He apologized over and over for the sad roses. I love them. They are still beautiful (and they all die anyways!)

Here is the necklace he got me. I also got some Candies perfume and chocolate covered cherries, one of my favorites. I gave him the new Eagles CD and some Belgian chocolate.

It was great, but WAY too short. I missed my kids but really, two nights would have been perfect! Next year perhaps! I’m so thankful for temples and the priesthood and the gospel so that I can be sealed to my sweet hubby forever. Okay, I’m done being so sappy:).

What a great anniversary! I can’t believe it’s been 6 years!! Your wedding seems like it was yesterday (the same day as the BYU v. Utah game, mind you, which I left to attend your reception!) Congrats!

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
