This last week the boys started swim lessons. Carson is having a blast, and was from the start. Devon was another story (though still not as bad as Carson last year).
Day #1: Devon screamed for me the whole time. I was not impressed with the teachers–they kind of just ignored him and made a half-hearted attempt to console him. They don’t allow the parents inside the area! What a bunch of crap, in my opinion. He would have been fine! So you can see my view. I guess they’ll let us take pictures on the last day.
Day #2: Devon said he would go in, so as he and Carson were holding hands walking there, he decided to book it the other way. I barely caught him. My friend was nice and took him in the last 5 minutes when they played and found him a toy he’d like. The first thing he chose was a water gun, which he quickly used to squirt the mean teenage girl teacher in the face. He only got 2 bites of ice cream instead of the promised bowl had he gone the whole time.
Day #3: Getting better–only sat out the first 15 minutes. He told me he wanted to go in the deep pool and wear a life-jacket. What? Well, to my surprise and utter joy, they did just that, so he got in. I thought for sure it was over when they plopped him in the water with his life-jacket and turned around, leaving him stranded and splashing all alone! Dumb kids. Luckily, he was fine and stayed in.
Days #4 and #5: He tried to not want to go, but decided it was more fun to just go…so he’s good now ! I’d NEVER put him in the next level next year–Carson is ready–this is his second time in the beginner class, so next year they’ll be in different levels, but they are having fun…now!
Oh, and just some extra pictures. Safety first around here you know, even when watching The Brady Bunch.
