Imagine..

December 11, 2008 By Christie

Imagine you are with your kids and your little 3 year old is so excited to deliver the neighborhood Christmas gifts. He knocks on the door for 15 seconds, rings the doorbell 5 times, just to make sure the people are home. They answer, his face lights up, and he smiles and sweetly says “Merry Christmas!” and hands them the gift. He runs back to the car, so excited and happy that he is doing a good thing. He tells you that they said “Merry Christmas” back to him. He’s happy and having a great time. It’s a fun time all together.

Now, imagine you let him go to a house–he knocks on the door. He looks back at you and gives you a big ol’ thumbs up with a huge grin. The door opens. You look down at your list. When you look back up, you hear your little one screaming because the neighbors dog is BITING HIM on the leg! A little yippy dog. He can’t get away–it’s got a pretty good hold on him. So you start to get out of the car to help him. The neighbor’s teenage boys are yelling at the dog and grab it and start to go inside. Your little boy is crying, wanting to get away, but looks down and realizes he still has the present for them, and holds it up with a sobbing, “Here you go” as they are brushing past him into the house. They grab it and close the door. The younger boy does come out and ask if he’s okay after you got out and carried him back to the van.

I know, sad huh. That really happened to Devon yesterday. Poor kid got his first dog bite delivering Christmas presents. At least it was a small dog that couldn’t do too much damage.

He’s over it today but totally milked it for all it was worth yesterday. It just bruised him through his Wranglers. It’s not that bad today. Didn’t even make him bleed, luckily.

(Oh, and the neighbors feel awful, well, at least the mom did when her kids told her. And no, they don’t read this blog. NOT that I hold them accountable for their dog’s actions, it’s not their fault he freaked out on Devon–you never do know what animals are thinking sometimes!)

Putting together treat bags before.

Ughh, I heard about this from Marrya, I feel so bad! Poor Devon, it’s so awful when it’s such a surprise, and then it hurts too. I don’t hold them accountable for what the dog did, but if that was my dog, it’d be put down. You just can’t have an animal that’s unpredictable. I hope he’s better!

Oh man, that’s awful! I’m glad it didn’t ruin his Christmas spirit, and hopefully it didn’t make him scared of dogs either!

I’m so sorry about Devon. Poor kid! How sweet to still give them the gift though. Thank you for the gift. What a great idea. Reading your blog helped me understand exactly what to do. Bailey looks great in those pictures!

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
