Draper Temple Open House

March 12, 2009 By Christie

We were lucky enough to go twice to the Draper Temple Open House. The first time, Dillon and I dropped our kids off at my sisters’ houses, and went with Dillon’s family for Jerry’s birthday. It was a great time all together, and kind of nice to be able to see it all without worrying about taking care of our kids.

But I was REALLY excited to take the boys. They are always asking to go inside the temple, so this was a great chance for them to see how amazing they are inside. We happened to go on a night that they said was probably one of the busiest they’ve had since they started the Open House. But I was impressed by how well the boys did. (I’m sad that I felt it was too crazy busy to get a good picture of us and the boys before we left–that would have been a good reminder for them. Maybe I’ll have to take them once more and get a picture.)

They of course loved the bus ride up. Carson looked out the window and saw the temple and said, “Ohhhh, I can almost feel the Spirit!”

We got off the bus, and you walk into these little tent things that make it’s way to the temple. They aren’t the prettiest, but as soon as we were in there, Devon looked around with a huge grin and waved his hand around like he was showing us it, and said, “Wow! Look at this temple!”

They really loved walking through it all, seeing the beautiful chandeliers and paintings. Carson at one point got really serious, and said, “Mom, I’m ickfused. I’m ickfused about what kind of temple my body is.”

Afterwards, they loved the cookies and water, and riding the bus back to the parking lot. Devon looked at the temple while we drove away, and said, “I want to go inside THAT temple mom.” Since you go inside the tent things, you can’t tell that you are walking right into the temple that you see from the bus, so he seriously thought we didn’t go inside that one.

It was a great trip, a great chance to talk about families being sealed together forever and temple marriages. I love my family and have been so blessed by temples in my life. I am so thankful for living so close to so many of them! I feel pure joy and peace inside the temple.

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
