The Day with No TV!!! (dun dun dun)

January 11, 2008 By Christie

That’s supposed to be dooming scary music sounds after the title. I’m really going to strive to do this (less TV, not blogging) a little more often, and lets face it, the day isn’t over yet so I hope I can make it, but man, my boys have been quite cheerful today! And I haven’t lost it yet–I got up and got ready before them and so it’s been nice to be able to go out in public at a decent time, which also helps since I’m trying not to turn on the TV today. So Devon is napping right now and Carson is at a birthday party and I’m starving, but wanted to hurry and post a couple pics since I always wish people would update their blogs more often. When we were at Walmart, we had to stop and look at the fish, and Devon saw one of those crazy (kind of gross) looking ghost shrimp, and when I pointed it out to him, he said, “That’s pretty cute!” They were both so concerned about the fish that were stuck to the filters but were still alive. Carson was especially worried, and kept asking if we should go get someone to help them. If I’d have done that though, I bet the worker would have chucked them in the garbage since they were probably mostly dead anyways, which would have made the situation worse! Anyways, so this was a pointless blog, but I had a break and took advantage!!!
Devon’s newest “thing” he does, and his newest saying is “Holy Smokes!”

Here’s Carson playing Santa today. His newest phrase is “Whatever you say!” THANK YOU VERY MUCH! He has to pay us 10 cents if he talks back to us now. He also has to do some type of service for Devon if he isn’t being nice to him–Devon has to as well, but he doesn’t get in trouble quite as often as our energetic Carson does! So Carson is learning quickly I believe!!! (and luckily hasn’t had to pay us a dime yet). Oh, the joys of them getting older… stay innocent forever, my sweet little boys!
Carson just got back from his best friend Kael’s b-day party. My friend Sabra is his mom and she is so creative! She made these cute backpacks, and got these cool walkie talkie things from Gap, and they got all sorts of cool space toys. What a good time for the kids!

6:00 pm and going strong–I think we’ll make it. How pathetic am I? Documenting the day without TV! Obviously, we watch it every day. I don’t mind 1/2 an hour in the morning and afternoon, which is our norm, but sometimes it’s more. Blah. Carson decided to make Devon and I our own transformers since he got one at his b-day party.

That is truly amazing. And I was impressed with myself because my kids only watched one hour today! Maybe next time I’ll shoot for a day without tv.

You sound like such a good Mommy! I should try and use the dime for back-talking, and service thing. I feel completely out of control with my parenting since the holidays and my sisters wedding.. (we had company staying here for a few days..) The service thing is a good place to start though. And yay for a day with no TV. We do it on occasion- and should do it more. I love reading your blog, and coming to listen to your music. :)

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
