“I can’t believe it’s my birthday! It really is my birthday! It’s here! I made it! I’m 5! 1.2.3.4.5! I’m 5 Devon! Mom, I’m 5! I’m big now!”
That’s what I got to wake up to when he woke up and saw his door decorated. He was SOOOOO excited today was his real birthday! And that’s one of the best things about this kid, he has a true love for life. He is so much fun to be around!
Things he likes now: He loves to draw, write his name and a bunch of 3 letter words, read simple words, tell these crazy jokes that make no sense, play with Rosco, still loves trains, loves primary–especially singing time, and just plain loves to have a good time.
On Sundays, in Sharing Time, I feel so lucky to be able to watch him. This past Sunday I had a great experience while watching him watch the video of Joseph Smith’s First Vision. It made me cry looking at his innocence and amazement when Joseph saw Heavenly Father and Jesus. It was one of the most beautiful and spiritual things to see the complete belief in his eyes, the complete amazement he had on his face! Then when he talked about it later to see his testimony growing at such a young age.
We didn’t do too much today, but he was content to play with is new Geo Trax train. Dillon was getting home late and so we let him open one of his presents to play with all day, which he did. Then we had a picnic, took a walk, ate pizza, opened presents, and had cake and ice cream.
Bedtime prayer tonight, “Heavenly Father, thank you for a great birthday today!” That was all, and the closing. As I folded clothes, he sang Happy Birthday to himself happily in bed for about 10 minutes:).
We sure love you, Carson!!!

That is really cute. I just love childhood excitement. And it looks like your baby won’t share a birthday with Carson. I suppose that’s good news? :) Now if she’ll just come…any day now…
