Dear Carson and Devon, You started school today. I was sad inside but of course happy too because you were both so excited and happy. We’ve had such a fun summer and I’ve so enjoyed being able to know what you are up to most of the time and spend the majority of your waking hours with you. Everyone says this over and over, but where has the time gone? How did you get to be in first and second grade? Devon, you have Mr. Carter. I was not worried about what teacher you would get because you love everyone and are friendly with all you meet. You are so sweet and such a good friend. You will do great and I’m so happy that you love school so much, so that makes it easier for me to send you off each day, all day (which is sad to me also since it’s the first time you’ll be gone all day). Carson, you are so lucky to have Sister Fox from our ward as your teacher! And you know it and are SO excited that you have her. I’m so thankful you have her because I know she already knows you and loves you for who you are. You are such a fun and lively kid that of course she loves you! You are great. I admit that I cried and sniffled the whole way home after walking you both to school. You kids are my buddies. But I pray and pray for you all day while you are gone (to feel happy and feel loved, to make good friends, to make good choices, to learn what you need to, etc)! And I love you. So. Very. Much. Love, Mom Devon was just a little nervous. He was thrilled to see a few people in his class he didn’t know about. Less than amused that I’m embarrassing him with taking his picture. On the way home I asked Bailey if she was going to miss her brothers. In her best southern drawl she said, “Don’t worry momma, I won’t miss them.” Oh, but I do! I’m so happy they love school though, even now, a couple weeks out. And I would be lying if I said I don’t appreciate the extra time I have to get some things done while they are gone, but I actually have been keeping super busy and haven’t had much extra time at all! Thank goodness they still have a few more years in fun Elementary School left!

What a sweet letter. And such handsome boys. And so cool that they got great teachers, especially one who already knew Carson so well. That's awesome! Easton got one who is known as the "mean teacher" and I'm worried for him… :( He definitely is already not enjoying school as much as before…
