Sabra and her sister had an idea last year to get our kids all together and head to Southern Utah for a Science Camp, put on by us, the moms. We had so much fun we decided to do it again this year! (I’m not going to go into quite as much detail about the lessons this year, just a basic recap). The theme this time was Physical Science. I was in charge of designing the shirts (with Sabra coming up with the theme of ‘Falling for Science’). Sabra came up with the schedule: Armed once again with a satchel full of fun things for the kids (this year with the addition of a tape measure keychain from Home Depot), we were off, complete with our camping gear, lessons, science experiments, and excitement. Once we had a good rest that night and ate, we were read to begin the lessons! Here are a few pictures from Sabra’s Forces of Motion lesson. (click over to her blog to read more about what she taught) Here are some of the fun activities during centers (which included both forces of motion and simple machines): Sabra’s simple machines lesson: I think my kids gave each other wedgies for a week after finding out it was a “simple machine”. So funny. The kids made their own catapults so we could have a marshmallow fight! That was one of the highlights for them, I’m sure!
