Ruby Jane arrived June 5th, 7:58 am! We are all so completely in love. She is such a sweet baby.
She weighed in at 6 lb. 4 oz. and 19.5” long. So she’s just a teeny little girl. Dillon took some really great pictures—I was proud of him for doing so well! And this is only about a tenth of them! I will be posting lots and lots more. I just wanted to get a post up while she’s asleep and the fam is at church real fast.
My amazing doctor did a great job on the c-section, along with the others in the room—they all did great. This was the best experience out of the three sections. Though I am still very sore and walk like a really (really really) old woman, I am recovering well and Ruby is doing great.
Out of all four of my children, she was by far the saddest after birth. She had the whole room chuckling with her squawking. The funniest is when she didn’t cry for a shot, but then they put the beanie on her head and it was the end of the world.
I finally got to see her and hold her! Until then, I just had to watch through the little mirror you see in the picture two above.
We all just adore her to pieces. It’s so cute hearing the kids call her Ruby. Bailey calls her Ruby Ruby Rube. And they all sing to her.
(Thanks to my sister Rachelle who took the next 5 pictures!)
What a blessing she is to us. We love our Ruby Jane!
There are some health issues with her heart that we will be finding more about in the coming week. It’s sad and scary but we don’t know very much yet. The cardiologist at Primary Children’s reviewed a test they gave her (more on all this later) and said she has Tetralogy of Fallot, which would require surgery. :( I admit I have been terrified and very very sad about it all. In fact, the night we found out, I was alone for about an hour in my hospital room with her and had quite the hour of sadness—I don’t know that I have ever felt so sad and scared nor cried so hard in my life. Bailey’s surgery was hard hard hard to think about. Surgery on my Ruby’s heart is even more terrifying to me. But we feel like a lot of things have fallen into place how they should. Again, I’ll write more about it later. We are supposed to see a cardiologist in the first couple of days this week. Thankfully, there have been some very sweet, precious, and peaceful moments as well. Dillon has been incredible helping me deal with it all. He’s a great man.
But for now she is home and doing great and we are so happy to have her with our family. You wouldn’t even know anything was wrong with her heart, which is why we feel so blessed that they even found out.

So, so beautiful!!! I'm so happy that she is here and well. I know several babies who were born with heart defects, all of which are doing well. My mom is one of them. I'll keep you and sweet Ruby in my prayers! Congrats!!

Your pictures turned out so beautiful! I am so happy that things went well. She is absolutely darling! We will keep little Ruby Jane in our prayers. Thank heavens she was born in this day and age, when she can get the best medical attention possible! But I know it must be killing you…hope you know we love you!

Ruby is so sweet and adorable!
I was talking to my girls the other day about Ruby's heart and that she'll have to have surgery and Eden and Amanda almost burst into tears (they did get teary-eyed). We've all been praying for your quick healing and recovery and for Ruby to have great doctors and a speedy recovery from whatever it is she'll have to go through.
