Carson will be 11 next week! I cannot believe it!!! So crazy how fast time has gone by. Everyone always says that, I know, it gets old, but they are right.
His Scout leaders worked really hard with him, and I have them to thank for him getting his Arrow of Light, which is the Cub Scout equivalent of the Eagle Scout (less work, obviously, but still a lot). We’ve been so lucky to have such great leaders in both the Gordon Lane Ward and the Lighthouse Ward now, who really do so well with their callings and help them pass of all sorts of stuff and get cool belt loops, etc.
The Lighthouse Ward ceremony for Arrow of Light is actually super neat. Honestly, had I known that it was such a big deal and that they would make such a big deal out of it, I would have invited grandparents. Dillon was working in Elko and sadly had to miss the whole night :(.
First they had me swipe some yellow paint on his forehead—all the paint colors meant something that he had gained as a Scout. Then all the leaders did the same, each color representing another trait.
They had this cool bridge thing that he was able to build.
The younger scouts handed him the boards that he could build the bridge with, then after it was over his old scout leader escorted him across the bridge to meet his new leaders. It was pretty cool!
The YM President sent me this picture from the beginning when Carson was pinning the two pins on my shirt. Not the best quality, but I’m glad to have it still. :) Plus I look like I’m gonna cry ;). And I’m staring right at him. That must be my “you are growing up way too fast” look, haha!
And here he is with his cool arrow and certificate and pins. He was so proud of himself! As he should be! Love this kid. :) I’m always impressed with how brave and non-nervous he is all the time. He was so sure of himself the whole ceremony and wasn’t nervous at all. Even in front of all those people. He just thrives on stuff like that. I love it!
