I love all my kids of course, but seeing as how Carson seems to be my most difficult, I need to write this post to let you all know that yes, I do love my firstborn so very much. He’s been doing so well in school—he got to be in the Club 100 which is for students who obey the rules and are doing well in class. Carson got to attend the Blue and Gold Banquet for scouts and was REALLY excited about that. Even though he doesn’t turn 8 until September and we explained that, he kept saying the rest of the night, “I can’t believe I’m in Cub Scouts now!” The entire banquet was really cute—we went to Mexico and made taco slides and had an in-flight meal—it was really fun. But the whole award ceremony got Carson really thinking and he asked a million questions, not wanting to miss a thing. I loved seeing his excitement! Tonight was his and mine one on one fun date. He chose to get a churro at Del Taco (good choice!). He played with some other kids while we were there, which by the way told him they were going to visit him in his class tomorrow since they discovered they go to the same elementary school (I thought that was cute because he thought it was really nice of them). Anyways, after they left it was just me and him. He didn’t ask me to come right and play, but he hinted majorly when he said, “Dad came up here once.” True, he did, to save Bailey. Since it was just us, we played for about 20 minutes in the playland and had a blast…and I realized how out of shape I am to run around and climb and play chase!!! After I went up with him the first time and came down the slide, he looked at me and gave me the sweetest smile and the most tender hug ever. It was one of those moments that you are so glad you took advantage of and didn’t miss, even though you would never know you missed it! Carson, you are one great kid. I need to focus more on the great attributes you have. I realized that tonight more than ever. This is a page from a book he wrote at school. Each page was supposed to start with, “In the snow…” I love it.
