The two stakes where I live combine and do a Children’s Parade for Pioneer Day. I think it’s such a fun tradition! Afterwards they have entertainment, dinner, and games for the kids. What a fun tradition! I think it just started a few years ago but the kids had a lot of fun dressing up and being in the parade. Ruby was disappointed they weren’t throwing candy ;).
Devon had a few things that totally worked great to wear. Obviously girl’s fashion has changed a lot more than men’s fashion. So while Jerry, Dillon and the three older kids were fishing that morning, I whipped up some pioneer clothes for Bailey. It didn’t take long at all and I just eyeballed everything. She completely adored her new pioneer clothes! It was so cute, she was just so happy and excited and thankful. Lots of hugs from her. She loved twirling around and dancing like a pioneer girl.
Ruby waiting for the parade to begin.
And here they come. Devon’s primary president told me she was thankful he wanted to pull the handcart since not many boys wanted to (I think these three were the only boys who did so they just combined).
We met back at the church and they sang “Pioneer Children Sang as they Walked and Walked”.
I did some indexing this weekend and it kind of gave me the Family History bug and so we looked up some stories from some of my ancestors. Devon helped me with some names also. Carson has done some in the past but he didn’t want to yesterday. The promises from the Prophets about doing Family History are amazing! So I’ll keep trying to persuade him gently :).
