“The rules of soccer are very simple, basically it is this: if it moves, kick it. If it doesn’t move, kick it until it does.” –Phil Woosman–
Carson had his first soccer practice last night. He did AWESOME! I was so amazed at how…non-shy he was! We got to the park and some older boys were playing, well he went right up to them, got in his little soccer stance, and said, “Let’s play soccer!!!” and went right up to steal the ball. Is this my kid (Dillon was also very shy like me as a child, he says)? He is very outgoing and was so ready to play. Talked about it the whole day. He is excited to get his uniform and wear all the gear. They gave him his own ball. They mostly played fun games like ‘sharks and minnows’ where he got to be the shark first. Man, I thought the coach was making a big mistake. He’s the first shark, right? Well, his coach is telling him how mean sharks are. “Are sharks nice? Do they let anyone get away with their ball? No! Go get them Carson! Let’s see your mean face!” I was sure Carson was going to run out and knock someone down, but he just went and stole the ball. He kept yelling to me, “Hey mom! I’m playing soccer!” The only time he got bummed was at the end when he was a minnow and someone got his ball, he cried a little and said, “I’m not good enough!” but soon was okay. Devon got to swing, poor kid. He’ll be old enough all too soon for all this anyways!
