Time to tell you our big news (for those of you that don’t already know). Yep, you’ve probably guessed it by now (the picture didn’t give you any ideas or anything), but we are going to have a baby!!! Yahoo!!! We are totally excited, and really glad that things worked out the way it did, as hard as it was to be patient sometimes! Our due date is September 12, and yes, that does seem like a long ways away, but I already know so don’t tell me:).
Monday I had my first doctor’s appointment. It was very neat to hear the heartbeat–I am totally amazed that this little 1 1/2 inch baby inside of me already has developed everything–even tiny fingernails! Amazing. I didn’t get an ultrasound–this doctor’s office doesn’t even have one at their office, but I will get to find out in 6-8 weeks what I am having.
The widget is funny–I don’t know why it has to float around like that! But I liked it the best still. Oh well. I have a floating alien inside me!
What my kids think:
Carson: So months before we found out, he’d been asking when we were having another baby. Anytime I’d tend anyone else’s baby’s, he would get so happy and say, “Is that our baby?” or “Can we keep her?” He has said some pretty hilarious things:
*Every time I (sorry folks, but it happens almost daily) puke, he is so concerned. The first time he said, “Hurry Devon, run away! Mommy’s going to throw up on us!”. He also says “excuse you” during the whole process, and the other day said, “Mom! Is that baby killing you???!!!” and “Are you going to die?”
*When we told them, we let them guess what was in my tummy and he caught on right away, and said “A baby!!!!” then said it was a brother for him, AND a sister. He told me that day we should name it Ace or Carson. He also draws pictures every Sunday in church of “his brother named Ace”. He also asked me why I ate a baby.
*Before we even told him, he knew though, it was so strange! I thought I was making sure that he didn’t hear me talking to a couple people about it, but he caught on somehow anyways. One night while I put him to bed, he just said, “Mom, are we getting that baby tonight?” I was pretty shocked and asked him if someone told him I was having a baby. He said, “Yah! YOU told me today!” I wondered if Dillon had said something, so asked him if Daddy did, and he said, “No, you did!” um… not really! I also had told him that I made a bunch of baby blankets in RS, and he said, “For our baby? When are you going to get that baby out?” very impatiently.
*In looking at pictures of babies in the mommy’s tummy (like on baby center’s website), he just thought it was really neat. He asked, “Are they going to cut that baby out of you?” and also after my first appt. Monday, he asked if they listened to the heartbeat by cutting me open. Much more questioning than when I was pregnant with Devon! In fact, this has been a blast having my kids older to talk about it, since Carson was only 9 months old when we got pregnant with Devon!!!
*Last night Carson said his prayers and said, “Please bless our baby to grow up and be named Vixen. And bless that we have another baby and another baby and another baby…” on and on. Oh, and those babies were called Lampy–he had to stop during his prayers to explain to me that those were the babies names.
Devon: I could not believe how serious he got. At first he was like, “You not have a baby in your tummy!” I could tell that he was deep in thought–he came over and wanted me to show him that baby right now.
*After we told them, I set him on my lap and snuggled with him a bit. He was deep in thought when he said, “I sitting on the baby!!!” Then he was convinced that he had a baby too. He hugged me tight and said he was “so so happy!”
*He said, “When I grow up, I be Santa and I have a baby.”
*He tells me now that he has a baby in his leg.
*We were looking at the baby widget’s to put on the blog, and there was one with a clock. He saw that and said, “Well, I have a clock in my tummy.
*He really wants a sister he said.
*At the most random times, he will say, “Well…you have a baby in your tummy!”
*Since we told him it was due right around Carson’s birthday, he’s convinced another one is due around his birthday. That’s on Monday… sorry buddy.
Anyways! We are so totally excited! This time around has been a lot easier than my other two, and I wonder if it’s because I got my gall bladder out after Devon was born. It’s still been a challenge, but one that I will take any day! We feel so blessed!

Yay for babies!!! What a fun post with all of the cute things your kids have been saying. I love it. Have you gotten the big question yet: how the baby got inside of you? I have nightmares over that question, and I’m not even pregnant! I hope you stop throwing up soon. Congratulations!

Congratulations, sweetie! That’s wonderful! And we’re not too far apart in due dates, so that’s kind of fun. This pregnancy hasn’t been as bad for me, either. Maybe we’re just getting used to it finally?! I love what you wrote about your kids and their thoughts on it. And sheesh, why DID you eat a baby, huh?

P.S. I love your stories of kid quotes on the sidebar, seriously. They make me laugh out loud. I wish MY kids would make me sandwiches, instead of just messes!
