I have 4 stories to share, that really just made my love for my boys grow even more. And I want to remember these forever and ever:). 1) The day after Dev’s b-day we went to the store. Carson had grabbed Devon’s balloons even though I had asked him not to, and took them with us. I was in a rush, so didn’t make him put them back and we were off. I told Carson to be super careful not to let them fly away. We got home, and they were waiting for me to get the door unlocked, when Carson accidentally let go of the balloons. He freaked out. “Oh no! Oh NO! What am I going to do??? I’m SO SO sorry Devon, I’m so sorry! Mom, we need to call someone. Get daddy and his ladder, call someone with a helicopter. We HAVE to get those balloons!” He’s bawling and just pretty much hysterical. I look at Devon, waiting for the tears. He’s looking at Carson, real sympathetically, and says, “It’s ok Carson. It’s ok that you let go.” I’m even getting teary-eyed typing this, because I was just so impressed with Devon for being so quick to forgive and actually comfort Carson because he was so upset.2) Carson and his friend down the street got into an arguement during recess at school, resulting in them both getting in trouble. It was my turn to pick them up and Ms. Harms told me a little bit about what happened. Carson was still pretty upset with his friend when he got home, so we were talking about it and trying to help him forgive even if his friend didn’t say sorry. Just then, his friend came by with a note that said he was sorry. We read it and Carson smiled really big. I could seriously feel the change in the room, that his bad feelings were just gone! Then he started to cry. I asked him why he was crying, and he said, “Because I just love that note so much.” I asked if he was sad and he said no, he was so happy about it. He was crying because he was happy! It was so sweet. He wrote him a sweet letter back. On the way home from school today, he told Seth that he liked his note, and started to tear up again! He got embarrased and was wiping his eyes saying, “I just have something in my eye.” He told me later that he really didn’t, that he was just feeling like he might cry again. 3) Devon got some money for his b-day. After tithing and half in savings, he had a little left to go get a toy at Walmart. He bought 2 toys and took them home. Carson was playing with one of them and Devon said, “Carson, I am giving that toy to you!” I asked if he was sure and he said yes. 4) Today Devon got a note from one of the sweetest, thoughtful people I know in our ward (Kami–thank you!). It says, “Dear Devon, Thank you for singing with me in Primary! It helps your friends sing, too! Thank you for being a good example. I love you! Love, Sister P–” I am so blessed to have my kids. I am blessed at all times to have them, even when they struggle with things. I am so thankful to be able to stay home with them!
