Devon Update

August 9, 2010 By Christie

Devon is as sweet as could be.  He’s LOVED swim lessons recently.  He seriously just said randomly all day, “I just love swim lessons!  I can’t wait until tomorrow for the next time.”

He’s just learned to ride his bike without training wheels.  We had taken them off a couple months ago, but he just wasn’t really into it, so we put them back on.  Well, he was determined this time and is doing great!  He’s had a couple bad falls, but he is loving how much faster he can go.

He loves to do “oppositing.”  What is that?  Well, I’ll tell you.  I say, “Dev, will you please go______________?”  To which he’ll say, “No.”  I’ll look at him and say, “Excuse me?”  To which he’ll laugh and say, “I’m just oppositing!”  and run to do it.  He’s actually a super helpful little boy.  Which is why when he says no it really throws me off!

He is super excited to start Kindergarten.  We’ve checked out those simple reader books at the library and he’s had fun learning to read some with me.  It’s been cute to watch!

He was referred to a Ear, Nose, Throat doctor because he gets sick so often, most of it with strep.  He will be having his tonsils out on the 23rd of this month.  So he’ll have a week before Kindergarten starts, which is good.  It was interesting to meet with the ENT.  He pointed out the sunken areas under his eyes and said it was because of his sinuses not getting a lot of air in them.  He also has dry lips quite often which was another symptom of large tonsils or adenoids.  He also mentioned how kids with large tonsils or adenoids will often be restless sleepers and then more tired throughout the day.  He is definitely a restless sleeper, so I’m hoping that this will be a good move for him!  I hope that it is an easy recovery for him.  With all his health problems, you’d think that he’d be tougher, but he kind of went the opposite way, poor kid!  He’s really super scared of shots and even swabbing his throat for strep.  So I hope he will be able to handle it!  I’m sure he will, it might just be a few hard days.  But I really feel like it is the best move for him!

We love our Devon!

Memorable Moments June 2015

~Ruby says "Thank You" when you give her anything. Except it's more like "Day Oooo." I love it. She's also trying harder to say please (or Peeeeze) for things she wants. What a polite little girl :).

~Yesterday Bailey came down with the Clone Trooper costume on, which is 4 sizes too big I'm pretty sure, and her bull horns on. It was awesome. And sums up this girl pretty darn well.

~Carson told us that he was the laughing stock of Primary on Sunday. He meant to say the Class Clown :).

~Devon's so funny these days. If you catch him doing something he shouldn't be, he gets an innocent little smile and then starts rolling his eyes everywhere except looking at you. :)
