Hopefully this little boy will have a healthier life now! Last Monday Devon got out his tonsils and adenoids. His throat hurt off and on after that, but he is mostly back to normal. His voice sounds different for now, but is supposed to sound more normal in the next couple of weeks. Arriving bright and early at 6:00 am! A little nervous, but he had a blessing the night before to help him be brave, and that’s what he prayed for as well. He held onto his red blankie though:). He also got an awesome fun bag which, as you can see, made him super happy. Just chillin’. He had some lortab at this point to start kicking in for after the surgery being over. From the time he left me to go back to the time they let me come into the recovery room, it was really short, like 40 minutes. He was screaming and crying and yelling “Ow!” and “Mommy!” and coughing a lot. I know a lot of it is just the weirdness of coming out of the anesthesia, but it’s still not fun to see them acting like that. He clutched onto me, and if I even tried to move, he’d yell, “HUG!” He was really sleepy of course, and zonked out just on the little ride to the van from the hospital. His face swelled up a little, and his upper lip the nurse said got nicked a little so it was swollen pretty big (you can’t see it very well in the pictures). He slept for a good part of the day. He didn’t really want me to leave his side much. He’d wake up and scream for me which of course made him more sad because it hurt, so I hung out a lot with him that day. That night is when he was super sad and kept telling me he was lonely. Thankfully he had Bailey to cheer him up. But really, he missed his friends and just felt sad. Luckily, the next day was full of visitors and phone calls and letters. Thank you so much. He felt really special. He stopped talking entirely during the morning at some point. And would just try and sign things or spell things in the air. Pretty cute:). The second day was going pretty good until lunch time. He still would only drink, but he started to get really tired and sad again and slept for a while. His last dose of Lortab was at 12:30 pm, but at 5:30 pm he started throwing up. OUCH! The poor kid. I felt horrible for him. It was really sad. My mom and Karl came to see him that night and so Karl and Dillon gave Devon a blessing. He stopped throwing up at about 9:30 (after having thrown up every half hour). By day three, he was gaining a little strength and walking around more. He ate a couple bites of food the whole day, but not much. Yum. Jello! He didn’t think so really. But at dinnertime, he just blurted out, “Pancakes!” And so we knew he was doing better! So just 3 hard days and now he’s doing great. He’s running around and talking and having fun with his friends again. I don’t think he’s all the way back to his old self, but it will be soon! Thanks again for all the visits, phone calls, help with my other kiddos, and prayers:).

Such a cute, sweet boy. So sorry we didn't get our bottoms over there to visit while he was healing. Glad he's been out and about playing!
