A couple months ago Devon wrote a really sweet talk for church that I wanted to have record of. It was all him :).
“Have you ever felt a nice comforting feeling or something to warn you about something? I know I have several times. That warm feeling is the Holy Ghost and it speaks in a still small voice. It does not yell it just is a still small voice and it can comfort you or warn you of something. It does not tell you to do something bad or anything that puts you down.
“I’d like to share something when I have felt the Holy Ghost. So I was at my cousins house for a sleepover and my cousin asked me if I wanted to go on this trail somewhere to ride bikes or scooters and I heard two voices in my head. One said that I should go and the other said I shouldn’t go. I knew the one that said I shouldn’t go was the Holy Ghost because it felt comforting. I didn’t go on that trail because of the Holy Ghost and who knows what could have been on that trail. All I knew was that it was the right choice. And I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.”
This boy. What a sweet heart. For several months he has gone into the bathroom after the kids are all in bed, and he will read at least one chapter each in the Book of Mormon and Bible. Every night! No matter how tired we all are he always reads his scriptures and says his prayers. He’s an incredibly spiritual kid for only 10 years old and it makes this momma so so happy to see him choosing such good things. He always makes sure the other kids remember to say their prayers. He’s got Bailey going in the bathroom with him as she takes her scriptures onto the floor and follows his example as she also wants so much to do good.
