(The following memorable moments are from the month of July. I always post these on the sidebar, but decided to put them into a post at the end of each month–they are in order from the newest to oldest moments).
*Carson rode his bike without training wheels last Monday, July 27th. He is doing great, and rode up the neighbor’s driveway when he got home. Carson said, “Clark! Look, I can ride without training wheels!” Clark said, “Cool buddy, how long have you been doing that for?” Carson looked at Clark and said matter-of-factly, “Fifteen years.”
*Carson has been learning to ride without training wheels. I know, it’s a little late, but it’s all good around here…Anyways, so when he’d start to go alone, I’d tell him, “It’s just you now!” He came up, kind of sad looking, and said, “Like, when you say ‘it’s all you’, it kind of makes me fall.” He looked up at me, smiled, and said, “But I appreciate it.”
*We were at the library and this teenage kid got on his bike and started to ride away. Devon excitedly said, “Hey, that kid can ride a bike without traning wheels!”
*Today I was making Carson’s sandwich. He said, “Mom, you asked me two times what kind of sandwich I wanted.” I said, “Yah, mommy’s weird sometimes huh.” He said yah. I said, “Are you weird sometimes too?” He said, “Well, I’m a little funny. And awesome.”
*On the way home in the van, Devon pointed to a house in our neighborhood and said, “There’s booby’s house.” I swear, the kid is obsessed with them already, ha ha!
*We read a Shel Silverstein poem–the one about the babysitter who sits on the babies. This was at least 2 weeks ago. So Devon randomly said in the car yesterday, “Mom, I’ll let you know if Jessica sits on Bailey.”
*Dev was so cute tonight. He obeyed me nicely and started cleaning up and said, “I’m choosing the right mom! I’m choosing the right!” Then, he came up after cleaning the room downstairs, and I said, “Oh, look at this kitchen! Bailey sure made a mess” to which he replied, “I’ll help clean it up mom!” Then as he picked up a few toys to take downstairs, he said, “I’m a big helper huh!” Yes you are sweet boy of mine! After he helped me with that, we had a great spanish conversation. He’d make up words in spanish, and I’d say something I really knew in spanish. He once said, “No mom, that’s not spanish….ok, just kidding, it is spanish” then he’d reply with something like “cokalokaro” word he’d make up. So funny.
*After telling the boys about the George Strait concert, Carson asked, “Did you get his number?” I said, “George Strait’s phone number?” Carson, blinking and silent…then , “Yah.” Devon then asked me, “So…was President Monson there?”
*After reading scriptures tonight, which was about Jesus’s crucifiction, Devon said, “Yah, and after Jesus died, He went to a better home.”
*Today at the park the boys and I laid on a blanket for a while and looked up at the huge trees and the pretty blue sky. We had a great time talking, and they both decided that they love trees and we really need to plant some. Carson especially was interested in everything about trees. He’s such a curious little boy!
*Carson was getting sad thinking he’d miss Earth when he died. I explained to him that we can’t even imagine how wonderful Heaven will be and how much Heavenly Father loves us and wants us to be happy. So, after a few other topics, I asked him what he thought Heaven would be like. He said, “I don’t know! I guess I’ll just be so surprised I’ll fall down!”
*I was talking about Dillon going over to our friends’ house to help them with something. They have a daughter Dev’s age–Kimberly. I told them where he was and mentioned it was Kimberly’s house. Devon said, “Oh, you mean, my girlfriend Kimberly.”
*Carson and Devon dressed like princes and dressed their dogs like princesses. Then they tied their pretend microphone to a drawer in the kitchen and sang songs to them, like the Scooby Doo song and the Enchanted song “How Does She Know”. It was totally funny.
*Devon and Carson totally think that Dillon is magic. So much, in fact, that Carson handed something to Dillon and said, “Here. Turn this into a pokemon ball.”
*Some little kids came by wanting to wash our van for money. We said okay, and Carson and Dev sat on the porch yelling things like, “Thanks for washing our car!” “You guys are doing GREAT!” “We really appreciate it guys!”
*Carson, Dev, and their friend Morgan were building a fort but the blanket kept falling. Carson said, “I know, let’s say a prayer that it won’t fall down!” and proceeded to give a prayer in behalf of the blanket. So cute.
*We pulled into our driveway after a long drive home. Devon said, “Is this CTR city?”
*Dev says, “Ring around the rosies, pocket pulla dosies…”
